How do you get the word out?

One of the things that I love about my role in ministry is that I get to hear about it. It. Whatever it is, I often get to hear about it. The good, bad and the ugly. Well, there is no ugly at CCF. Ahem.

Anyway...at the close our Executive Board meeting tonight, Pastor Nelson and I just took some time to share some ministry wins. As we shared, it dawned on me again...

How do we get the word out?

How can we start to let more stories be heard.

There IS stuff happening. There IS life change happening. There ARE powerful stories all around us. I hear them. We see them. Some can't be public for various reason. But, many can! We need to get the word out.

How do we get the word out? In what meaningful and creative ways have you seen churches effectively tell the stories of life change happening among them? Leave a thought if you have one.

  1. I like the Cardboard testimonies, maybe you can do a church version. You know I would love to see and hear more on this end.

  2. I totally agree with Barbara. We recently did this at CLA and I heard a lot of feedback from that service. It was incredibly powerful. We've also had the same desire to do more "story telling" to celebrate what God is doing in our midst, so we set up a spot on our website http://arena.christian-life.com/default.aspx?page=3663 where people can submit testimonies. We also run a bulletin announcement each week encouraging people to submit their testimonies and we set up a specific (easy to remember) e-mail address that they could e-mail them to. We now incorporate a testimony into our announcement/prayer segment of our weekly services whenever we can. We read them from whatever was submitted. This has become a fairly regular part of our weekly services. It never gets old, because the testimonies are so unique. It's a great way to celebrate! I once heard something to the effect that you should celebrate what you want to see repeated. Testimonies help accomplish this, and they are a great faith builder! - Amanda A.
