While reading the scripture this morning (at Starbucks), I ran across this verse in Proverbs 27:5...
"Better is an open rebuke than hidden love." That caught me. What is
hidden love?!?! What is this verse meaning? Want to look at this deeper. More later.
Want my $0.02 worth?
ReplyDelete'Hidden' and 'open' here can't be from the point of view of the one doing the actions, how can you hide love you are showing others from yourself?? It would have to be from the point of view of the receiver.
So I would take it as I would rather you correct me to my face than love me secretly where I never get to benefit from it.
I'll go along with Kevin's comment: If you don't know you are loved by someone, you are missing out on that connection.
ReplyDeleteBy the same token, if you secretly love someone? Let them know. Who knows? I'm not saying that it would result in a movie-plot reality, where you find that they had hidden love for you as well. But the bonds of friendship will be strengthened, either way.
Kevin and Perry,
ReplyDeleteI like what you wrote. Thanks for engaging. This just kinda caught my eye and I never dug at it much. Your insight was appreciated. Your $0.02 is always welcomed. Every penny helps! ;-)
